Arts 291 ST: Experimental Media in the Eternal City
In this course, students will use photo, video and audio media to explore historical and contemporary Roman culture.  The emphasis will be on experimentation in acquisition and production of media projects. Projects may include alternative narratives, experimental documentaries, video montage and formal explorations.  Investigations into time-lapse, stop-motion, macro and telephoto effects will enhance these assignments using both personal and departmental equipment.* Presentations and discussion about the work of contemporary artists will aid conceptual development and instruction in use of equipment and post-production techniques will enable completion of projects. Knowledge gained from other courses of study in Rome and elsewhere, as well as personal research will contribute to the development of a body of work. Prerequisite Preferred: Arts 101-108
*departmental equipment will be available!
